Jacky Y. Xu is a percussionist, educator, and product builder based in New York. His work spans performance, education, production, and technology.

He earned both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Percussion Performance from New York University, where he studied under internationally acclaimed percussionist and educator Jonathan Haas. Under Professor Haas's mentorship, Jacky developed not only his artistic and technical foundation, but also a lasting appreciation for musical excellence, collaboration, and education.

During his time at NYU, Jacky participated in a wide range of performance, recording, and media projects, including Hugues Dufourt: L'Origine du monde with the NYU Contemporary Music Ensemble, recorded with pianist Marilyn Nonken under the direction of Jonathan Haas and released on the Métier label; ESPN's In the Air Tonight with the NYU Percussion Ensemble; the official recording of New York University's Alma Mater as Principal Percussionist; and recordings of works by Tim Adams with the NYU Orchestra.

His professional work has taken him to stages including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, with collaborations alongside artists such as Lang Lang and productions involving Joe Hisaishi. He has also worked with organizations including the American Composers Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival and School, and Sō Percussion.

Today, Jacky's work extends beyond the concert stage into teaching and educational technology. Whether performing, mentoring students, or developing AI-powered practice tools, he is driven by the belief that music, education, and technology can work together to create more meaningful musical experiences on and beyond the stage.
